NSS Unit of Saraswati College of Engineering Kharghar organised 5 Days Residential Leadership Training Programme 2022-23 under Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav from 14th February to 18th February 2023
Navi Mumbai : 34 Volunteers from 18 colleges in Navi Mumbai (Thane Zone IV) participated in this camp. Day one was full of energy for all volunteers. The day started with Registration of all the volunteers present at the Venue. Later on the inauguration of LTP camp was done by the Deputy Commissioner Panvel Municipal Corporation Shri. Ganesh Shetty, Dist. Coordinator Dr. Nitin Deshmukh, Area-Coordinator, Navi Mumbai, Dr. Laxman Gavali and NSS PO and Area-Coordinator Dr. Sunita Pal. Sessions were arranged with a motto to build Soft skills and leadership quality. Shri Ganesh Shetty took the session on Role of Youth in social reform. Topics of Personality Development, Public Speaking, Soft Skills and Leadership were taken by Prof. Alka Purohit, Mr. Mushtaq Shaikh, Prof. Meghna Chatterjee, Mr. Rahul Jadhav and Prof. Royal D'Souza, respectively. Shri Sushil Shinde (NSS Officer On Special Duty) visited the LTP camp and made participants aware of "What NSS Exactly is?". Indian Revenue Service Officer Mr. Nasir Iqbal Maner took a session on Youth Leader roles and responsibilities. The team of Ambika Yog Kutir took a yoga session daily morning. Each day of the camp started with Yoga sessions and physical exercises.
The concept of zero waste and how to generate fertilizer from the wet waste within 24 hrs was explained by Scientist and Padmashri awardee Shri. Sharad Kale. Basic Life Support Training and practical concepts of CPR were demonstrated by the Apollo Emergency team. Mr. Raju Shinde, Theatre Instructor, took a workshop on Street Play and shared information on the importance of it. A session on 'How NSS helps in placement' was taken by Prof. Samir Ekbote and another session on NSS Documentation was taken by Shri. Ramesh Devkar. Workshop on waste management and session on NSS reports were taken by Dr. Sunita Pal, NSS PO and Area Coordinator Navi Mumbai. Mrs. Karnti Ukey, District Coordinator, Mumbai City guided to overcome Corruption in India. Avhaan camp volunteers Miss. Akanksha (SCOE), Miss. Anushka (DMCE)and Mr. Kuvar (DMCE) took a workshop on Disaster Management and how to react in critical situations.
On 16th February a cleanup was arranged at Belapur fort in association with the team of PMC and workers. On the same day activity of tree plantation done in college campus. Next day on 17th February, session with NATIONAL INSTITUTE FOR THE EMPOWERMENT OF PERSONS WITH INTELLECTUAL DISABILITIES Research Centre was arranged. Spent time with mentally disabled people and activities were arranged.
Leadership Training Programme concluded with certificate distribution to all the presented volunteers through the hands of Mr. Nikhil Karkhanis, Dist. Coordinator Mumbai City and Mr. Nitin Deshmukh, Dist. Coordinator Thane Zon IV and Dr. Sunita Pal, Area Coordinator, Navi Mumbai. Atlast, Volunteers shared their experience of the 5 day Camp.
Dr. Manjusha Deshmukh, college Principal, Prof. Sheetal Bhukkawar, College Dean and National Service Scheme Area Coordinator and PO Dr. Sunita Pal received valuable guidance and support throughout the camp.
